Join us for a contemplative Ash Wednesday service with prayer, Scripture, music, and the distribution of ashes.
WHAT IS ASH WEDNESDAY?
Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent. Lent is the 40 days preceding Easter (not including Sundays). Lent is a season for prayer, fasting, repentance, and almsgiving. It is a time of reflection and renewal as we prepare our hearts and minds to commemorate the death of Jesus and celebration His resurrection. Ash Wednesday marks the start of the the Lenten season.
WHY ASHES?
On Ash Wednesday, it is customary to participate in the distribution of ashes, where a person is marked (typically on the forehead) in ash as a sign of the repentance of our sins and a reminder of our humility before God.
